The "Gold Card" is the Registration Card used to identify the holder as one who is trade qualified in Carpentry or Carpentry & Joinery - Guaranteed.

Criteria to become a Gold Card Holder

Any person who has completed their apprenticeship in carpentry prior to 1980 and who has remained actively engaged as a builder up to the time of making his or her application to register.
    OR
He or she has obtained Trade Certificate or Advanced Trade Certificate in Carpentry or Carpentry & Joinery or today's equivalent, National Certificate or National Certificate Advanced in Carpentry
    OR
Certificate In Building (NZCB)
    OR
Any recognised overseas qualification.

There is no criteria as to how the Gold Card Holder may be employed. The Gold Card holder may be on wages/salary for a large construction company, may operate as a labour only contractor, or be the Managing Director of a large building company.
